As a descendant of a Choctaw Freedman, I’ve faced barriers like the Dawes Rolls, blood quantum, and other exclusions used to limit the citizenship and full rights promised under the Treaty of 1866. While some Nations have taken steps to honor those obligations, others have not. This work exists to bring visibility to what was promised, what was withheld, and what remains unresolved.
