As a descendant of a Choctaw Freedman, I have seen how the rights promised in 1866 were limited by exclusion and delay. Some Nations have acted. Others have not. The promises were written. The rights were not fully honored. This work exists to keep that history visible and the pressure public.

From everyday wear to daily use, this collection carries the reminder that what was promised in writing should be honored in practice.
